Moving Soon? Consider a Storage Unit

Planning a big move soon? Do not procrastinate! Moving has been ranked as one of life’s most stressful events. So the sooner you start, the less stressful the process will turn out to be. Moving Soon? Consider a Storage Unit

It can be overwhelming when you start thinking of moving all your belongings. Getting some “non-essential” items out of the way now will free up space and make your move day a lot easier. Think about what you could put in storage from these spaces:

  • Garage/Shed Consider hiring someone to take care of your yard for a month. This could free up your garage or shed from lawn mowers, weed whackers, and similar items. Also look for things you only occasionally use like a chain saw, bikes, beach paraphernalia, a corn-hole set, toolboxes or golf-clubs. This can give you a nice space to stack boxes or furniture on the move day.
  • Closet/Attic/Basement Out-of-season clothes and footwear are the most common thing that comes to mind. Beyond those items, these spaces are a catch-all type of place. Fill empty suitcases with sweaters or blankets. Vacuum-sealed plastics bags can help reduce the size of linens and clothes.
  • Guest Bedroom All the furniture in the room, decorations and window treatments, could be stored easily. Be sure to fill empty dresser drawers with books or other odds and ends. Getting everything cleared out of a spare room will be a great feeling.

When the big move arrives, you will have plenty to think about. Getting these, and similar items, into a storage unit beforehand will make the stress much more manageable. Be sure and contact us if you have any questions.
