Furniture is one item that can really take up a lot of room inside your storage unit. So that you can maximize space, follow these tips to help you get the most out of your storage area.
Furniture movers know that the way to maximize space on their truck is to disassemble certain pieces of furniture. For example, you may be able to remove a table top from its pedestal or the legs from a sofa or loveseat. Beds and bed frames also take up a great deal of room when assembled, but tend to be much more compact when taken apart. If you can do so safely, disassemble your furniture-just be sure to keep all parts together so it will be easy for you to reassemble them. Place hardware in a plastic zippered bag and tape to the side or bottom of the piece it belongs to.
Use your Furniture as Storage
There is no need to waste space inside dressers, desks, or freestanding cabinets. Use that room to keep smaller items such as clothing, tools, or office supplies in instead. So that you don’t forget where you put things, place a label on the outside of your furniture that lists what’s inside it. If you have appliances such as washers and dryers, don’t forget to use the space inside them as well.
Don’t forget to use all the space you have available from floor to ceiling. Some pieces of furniture such as a sofa will take up less room if you stand it on end. You might also be able to stack multiple dressers or end tables on top of one another, provided the one you start with has a sturdy base and is solid enough to hold the additional weight.
